The 2012 Bob Potts Heritage Rail Trail Marathon, on Sunday May 20th was a very hot and very exciting day. There was a wave of supporters there and everyone was mingling happily but people seemed to congregate around a particular person, a certain runner sporting a strange cow spot jersey. This person happened to be John Gilliland, owner of Moove In Self Storage. Though no stranger to fitness, this was John’s first official marathon.
The Moove In Self Storage mascot was present and handing out plenty of goodies; including candy and coloring pads for the kids, and official Moove In shirts and totes for the adults. At one point during the day a previous tenant of ours, Jacob Nelson, came up to the Moove In table and said how wonderful it was to see the team there. His mother had rented at the Canal Road location in the past, and he commented that they had a wonderful experience and always recommended Moove In.
The high point of the day had to be when the Moove In cow ran the last part of the course with John. The cow recovered from the heat just in time to dance with some of the children attending the race. Overall, the day was filled with friendly people and fun antics. Participants and supporters were happy to have the team from Moove In sponsor the event.
The proceeds that were earned as a result of this great event will go to the Bob Potts Scholarship Fund, CapLive Music, and The York Heritage Rail Trail. Last year they we were able to give our scholarships to 2 high school senior cross-country runners.
At Moove In Self Storage we are always happy to go the distance for our York, Lancaster and Huntingdon, PA community customers.
