Leg Up Farm Fall Fest – Another Successful Event!

By Kassandra Mejias, Graphic Designer

This year, Leg Up Farm held their annual Fall Fest on Saturday, October 12th from 10am-3pm. Moove In was thrilled to be a community sponsor and host a table at the event for the fifth year in a row! Leg Up Farm uses this event to raise vital funds for the numerous programs they offer for children with special needs. We truly believe in their mission and value our partnership.

It was a warm sunny day with some mist in the afternoon. We had several people interested in renting a storage unit in the next month or two themselves, and many others who took our “First Month Free” coupons to share with people they knew who needed storage. Suzi, our Senior Property Manager, handed out over 300 tote bags and more cow tales than we could count (our cow tales are very popular every year)! We also gave away pens, fun pins, key chains and black business card holders. This year, many people were asking questions about self storage so they could learn more. We were also thanked numerous times for being a sponsor of the event.

This year featured a new kids’ activity, horseback riding, which was a popular attraction. Once again, the Halloween trick-or-treat trail was very popular, with kids in full costume stopping at each station for candy. There was also pumpkin decorating, professional face painters and henna tattoo artists. Another popular item was the “kid craft vendors”, where kids had booths to sell and showcase their works. How cool is that?

Professional Family Photo

Our team outside (Tyranni our property manager in Manheim, and Kassandra our graphic designer) handed out goodie bags for the kiddos complete with a fun “I Love Heifers” or “I Love Cows” pin, a coloring book, crayons and Halloween stickers, as well as a giant pumpkin head full of candy for the trick-or-treaters. We are one of the many stops on the trick-or-treat trail and we offer free professional photos for visitors (as well as a cow cut out you can stand behind for a selfie), which we have done for the last three years. All we need is your name and email address so we can send you a link to your photograph(s), sized and ready to print! We have seen many of the same familiar faces each year stopping back for their free photo.

Fall Fest is also beneficial for the “big kids” in your family, with over 60 vendors where you could buy just about anything, such as hand-made jewelry, candles, hand-sewn purses and bags, pottery and seasonal decorations, pencil drawings, and potted mums just to name a few. There were also many food trucks where you could enjoy of variety of tastes such as pizza, Bricker’s famous french fries and chicken strips, hot apple cider, gourmet grilled cheese, pulled pork bbq, Italian ice and so much more. Plus, while at the event, you could take a tour of the facility to learn about all the great things Leg Up Farm does every day for kids in need, bid in the silent auction, and even watch equine demonstrations.

We cannot wait until next fall to join Leg Up Farm once again at this great event. Who knows, maybe the attendance will more than double once again! If you haven’t had a chance to stop in to one of their events, you should really make some time to do so. There is always great fun for kids and adults alike, all while benefiting the great work they do for kids with special needs. They rely on their fundraising events and donations throughout the year to operate and provide vital services for our community.
